Joan of Arc was a very special French girl.
She was born in 1412 and was always very kind,
especially to her parents.When she was 13,she
started to hear voices.She believed they were
the voices of saints.The saints told her to be
good and to go to church.
When Joan was young,England`s army came into
France.By the time she was 17,England controlled
most of France.The saints started to talk to her
every day.Now they told her to fight the English.
Joan hadher own army.In only ten days,Joan`s army
beat the English in the city of Orleans(capital
of Loire Department,north central France).Joan`s
army kept fighting,and in three months,France had
its own king again.
But the king didn`t thank Joan.Instead,he let
the English put her in prison.They said Joan was
a witch,tied her to a piece of wood,and burned
her to death.She was only 19.
